well i dont know what your thoughts are?
personally if i was to emigrate id choose canada.27 April, 2012 at 3:28 pm #494720Interesting thread cosy….
If I were to buy just for a holiday home I would choose St Vincents one of the Windward Islands in the Caribbean for a couple of reasons
First… financial… St Vincent has just built an airport which will rival that on Barbados… so the price of land is about to rocket, presently though you can still build a front line property there quite cheaply compared to other islands in the Caribbean.
Second… its beautiful :D
I agree with you though… if I were to emigrate I would choose Canada… Vancouver to be precise… love it there.
27 April, 2012 at 3:43 pm #494721yes mrs t,ive been to canada 3 times(mechant navy) but that was quebec, and montreal
the french speaking bit, the eastern seaboard, ive never been to west canada, but yeh id choose vancouver, and for back up toronto.27 April, 2012 at 3:46 pm #494722I would rent an Eastern European apartment, like the ones from the 60s spy films.I would sit by the window overlooking the cafes across the street wearing a black coat and smoking a cigarette listening to Komeda. 8)

you have anc…. did you make a good choice ? if you could choose again would you pick the same place?
28 April, 2012 at 8:02 am #494727I would not move to Canada…been and it’s ok for a holiday but not to live for me….the kids can live in Canada through their dads citizenship and although they love it there and are going out in June they prefer America.
For me…I think I am happy here….I woudln’t want to live in a country where it is so hot all the time although I love the summers here…when I have been abroad in the summers I find the 1 or 2 weeks enough28 April, 2012 at 1:01 pm #494728@mrs_teapot wrote:

Absolutely! Having lived in London for 20’odd years, having kind-of moved to rural SW France (still got a flat in London), is idyllic. Rush-hour involves 1 or maybe 2 tractors and the occasional van! Not the Northern Line before 8am, and, after 6.30pm!! I would never move to another city that is for sure, as for another country – NO! I can speak a bit of French, and like, J and H in France, try to stay away from other ex-pats and enjoy the company of the ‘locals’, love the food/wine, and most of all love the seasons – exactly the same as the UK – England!!, but more definitive ie. always hotter or colder – I just love it! :D
