Even if you’ve never owned an apple product in your life, the chances are that you’re using a piece of technology that was inspired by his innovations.
RIP Steve Jobs, you truly did change the world. xxx
6 October, 2011 at 11:13 am #479491I agree Jen…. so sad. I was told about the new cancer drug about to be trialed in Yorkshire… its a derivative of crocus bulbs and initial trials have been hopeful… its different to other cancer treatments as it inhibits the flow of blood to the cancer and as its the blood that spreads the cancer… thats new in treatment terms… the good thing about it is it will be able to treat all cancers.. thats new too…. I feel quite knowledgeable as I went to a cancer research luncheon yesterday.. sorry to seem like a know it all :?
Rip Steve… Your legacy will live on.

6 October, 2011 at 1:37 pm #479493Blimey, TBH I’d never use any of his products, they’re a con and most have been plagiarised by smaller companies that he simply bought out anyway. I mean his initial computers were just carbon copies of Amiga technology.
But he did do good in other areas in the world, and although he used his money for evil, he also used it for good at times. He did a lot for charity, and for that he deserves a humble RIP.
6 October, 2011 at 2:13 pm #479494But even if you’ve never owned an Apple product – and I never have – you will have a piece of technology or software that has been influenced by Apple products, whether that was from their own in-house innovation or technological innovation that they bought in and made popular.
Even something as simple as downloading music; the music industry was unconvinced on the potential of the download market and refused to release a vast catalogue of music…until the i-pod came along and they had to sit up and take notice.
Like it or not, your life has been touched by Steve Jobs and Apple in some way.
6 October, 2011 at 2:29 pm #479495Not really. All that technology was already available. I was downloading music a good decade before the I-pod ever existed. I was downloading music when we still had Sony Walkmans with the old tape cassettes.

We know. At which point they were playing about with computer technology that was already in place since the 1940s after the British invented them during the war.
6 October, 2011 at 3:30 pm #479498Britain has been responsible for many inventions, unfortunately we don’t seem able to make a commercial success of many of them. Many “die” until someone rediscovers them much later on, or the more commercially viable are taken up by others who have the wherewithal to make something of them.
If you really can’t see how Apple and/or Steve Jobs have influenced other technology and therefore impacted your life you’re either walking around with your eyes closed or you’re in denial. That isn’t to say that they weren’t influenced or didn’t buy innovation from others of course.
