Inview of the riots taking place in London and and reports that Twitter and Blackberry Messenger are being used to communicate and incite violence………..what are your thoughts on this and should sites like this be taken down when circumstances like this arise?
People should have to use their real names, like they do with Facebook, on things like Twitter.
If I’d had to use my real name here on JC, I’d never have said half the things I have done, and I’ve always been fairly mild-mannered and not very controversial.ya probably know i have a rant type personality /

I am a bit alarmed by some of the sartorial crimes being committed in front of the world’s cameras but, that said, I’m reasonably heartened.
To be honest, I’d given today’s youth up as an indolent lot. I thought they’d been a’ glamoured by their faerie xboxes. Nice to know they’ve got a bit of derring do about them.
They play right into their hands. The only way to reverse this martial take-over is a complete withdrawal from it and watch it collapse under it’s own weight.
Kill switch anyone?

NO Tinks i dont think they should be taken down. Again everyone gets blame or bad name from a handfull of idiots who abuse the sites and use them for voilence. There should be however more policing on them to stop crap like this but i have no idea if this could even be done. Before social sites they used mobile phones to arrange Flash Mobs – ok they werent voilent but only a matter of time before some idiot got “group mentalility” and started shìt like this.
Is this the only thread on the riots – what happened, why did they start??
