In anticipation of a volley of abuse I have put my tin hat on and have the car waiting but wonder whether anyone has a view on Bullfighting as cultural or indeed art?

I know this is emotive and I look forward to both the kicking I am going to get as well as the erudite cultured and open minded friends I hope to make.
I fail to see how baiting an animal until you kill it, whether it is killed in the ring or in the pen, can be described as art and/or entertainment. It may be considered a part of the culture of the country, but then so were dancing bears once upon a time.
If that makes me uncultured and close-minded then so be it.

It’s very, very sad if a so called “human being” can gain pleasure from watching the torture and slaughter of another living creature.
Something is severly wrong with these so called “people.”
ok i would agree with bull fighting but only if it was fair
so my proposal would be the bloke cant have a sword,but is allowed to head butt,punch,kick,scratch ,pull hair etc
and the bull gets his horns wrapped up into some kind of material that cant gore
(no not gortex)
but the bull is allowed to head butt,and use his brute strenghth
lets see who would win then
i know who my pesetas/euros,would be on?
just a thought.Like your style Cosy, i dont lilke bullfighting myself as it does seem cruel to the bulls.

It’s referring to a “novel” written by Ernst Hemingway who was a very sad, sick individual.
I suggest Pikey opts to take the place of a bull in a “bullfight” and suffers the same death. I’d pay money to watch it and would even strap its body up to the back of my car and drag it out the bullring myself.

I was saying sorry to bull-kind, Mr Best Man. I said sorry to them because I consider them a noble beast worthy of an apology for my quiet complicity in their gory sacrifice.
I don’t particularly like bullfighting myself but I think I do understand it. To many Spaniards it is one of, if not the, highest art form(s). Its form is as closely defined and as difficult as ballet – all accomplished in the face of the savage bull.
Anyway, it clearly has artistic merit and I have eaten too much entrecôte to be worried about a few bulls. I’m a speciesist, I’m afraid.
I am worried about this Panda12 contributor, though. I barely know the poster yet they seem to wish me a bloody end for daring to have a differing view nearly every time they come to my attention. Are they the JustChat Taliban or something? Did I miss a meeting?
