With lots of people stranded all over the country, economic depression, snow misery etc they are saying lots of people are heading for their worst christmas….
so I wondered what the worst christmas was anyone could remember that they had???
In 2004 I had my daughter on christmas eve, which was a joyous event, but it was marred by the fact that I was very ill after having her and spent all of christmas hooked up to a drip and in hospital. I missed my other daughter on christmas morning, I slept most of it away and even had to endure hospital turkey which was like eating chalk and brussel sprouts which was like green mush. I remember it all too well!!
22 December, 2010 at 7:16 pm #457636I tried to think of a bad xmas …….. and I’m happy that I couldnt!!!
I think this xmas will be the toughest for me … 3 of the kids grown and have their own families and have decided its time to break from tradition and have their ‘own’ xmas at home!
Will be the 1st time in 23 yrs that all the kids haven’t been home all together …
That said … its great to see them building their own ‘tradition’ …
Also a plus – one of them isn’t home as his lady is due a baby any day ……. always a silver lining :)
22 December, 2010 at 11:29 pm #457637My worst Christmas was 4 years ago.
My father died suddenly on December 14th. Losing someone at a time of festivities is quite surreal, Christmas parties and funerals being planned alongside each other, going shopping for red shoes for a party and a black jacket for a funeral, trying to look happy and joyful.
The funeral on the 22nd, the Friday before Christmas, going back to the hotel in funeral clothes planning a drink in the bar only to find a party in full swing.
Never have I felt less like celebrating Christmas

30 December, 2010 at 4:33 pm #457642Ironically I started this thread only for this to turn out to be my worst Christmas. I am now entering 2011 not as a bride to be but as a homeless singleton dossing on my mums floor with my 2 kids! Go me! At least I have my iPhone and a 3G connection to you lot! Small mercies! Lol :(
