Ok so we got about 5 inches of snow through the night, anyway I attempted to get my children to school but failed miserabley. Got about 400 yds in an hour so gave up. When I got home I was greeted by the sight of a neighbour a few doors up clearing his pathway of snow, which I never gave much thought to. Anyway about an hour later I looked out and he was clearing the middle of the road and the footpaths and I thought ‘how neighbourly’ BUTTTTTT it was then I realised something… this very neighbour has one of those disabled bays painted around his bright shiney 09 plate ford mondeo that benefits pay for. OMG. How can you be on mobility benefit and clear the whole street of snow with a spade? I just don’t get it…
You usually only get one of these vehicles if you have a problem with mobility surely or something like a heart problem I would have thought so how in the heck can he clear the street of snow??I am gobsmacked!
25 November, 2010 at 3:30 pm #455144Maybe the mobility allowance is for his wife or child and not for him?

25 November, 2010 at 3:50 pm #455146A disabled relative that cannot drive maybe ?
25 November, 2010 at 3:51 pm #455147ok another possibility…mobility allowance is about your ability to walk a certain distance, not your fitness…it may be he’s capable of wielding a shovel but not of walking very far. Or then again, maybe he’s pulled a fast one and is claiming for something he isn’t entitled to!
25 November, 2010 at 4:03 pm #455148Well when he is up a ladder cleaning his windows and walking down the the local shops he doesn’t look to troubled. I smell a mahooosive rat.
25 November, 2010 at 4:40 pm #455149You know your trouble Mel ?
25 November, 2010 at 5:28 pm #455150My mother has a disabled badge but with her hips and heart she struggles to walk any distance. Wonder why he needs a special bay if he seems so fit and lives alone. Maybe there’s something you don’t see something or maybe he’s a bit suss.
Either way send him over here when the snow reaches us. He could make a few bob.
