are Quality People.
I’ve not progressed through a single supermarket checkout without sharing my whole life story. Christ they are friendly up here, especially when you’re used to that M25 madness.
At work, in the pubs, at football, in the shops and even the bloody neighbours make my heart swell. And the same goes for every single one I’ve ever spoke to in chat rooms too, whether from North or South of the river. Warm, funny and very sociable. I even include Smoggies in this. The sons of coal-miners now working in call centres, and the very pretty girls who brave the North Sea winters with not much more than a Viking’s smile.
My modest lil ol’ tribute to those from an historically deprived area.
Respect..
22 September, 2010 at 7:37 pm #447900Ya alreet bonny lad? lol
I am a geordie and I remember my Gran standing in a shop telling the assistant her entire life story which as a teenager at the time I found very uncool!
Nowadays I find myself talking to anyone lol… which was especially difficult when I lived in Luton for 13 years, strike up a convo with someone at the mirror in the ladies on a night out and they thought you were wanting something of them… eek!
Now that am back in the northeast, I have rejoined the non coat wearing brigade, although after so many years being a southern softie it has been a shock to the system again! Roll on saturday neet when ah can freeze me tits off standing in a pub queue to just buy 1 beer before moving on to the next 15 pubs and their queues… lol

There are quality people all over the country – not just the north east.
23 September, 2010 at 3:01 pm #447902I’m not a southerner but I am down south………….have to say Northerners are definately a few degrees warmer than Southerners by nature.
23 September, 2010 at 3:22 pm #447903I am a softy suvvener born and bred.
However I do see loads of norveners day in day out…they are mainly contracters working on the power stations. It’s very difficult I imagine to work away from your family for weeks on end. I can honestly say I have never come across an unpolite miserable norvener who has graced our shop. And I’m talking 6 O’clocks in the mornings. They are so polite and always always address me respectfully.
There are also hundereds of my customers who are suvveners and are equally lovely and polite.
You can go to somewhere else in the world where poverty is strife and the poeple will be so welcoming and polite.
Is there a nation or a part of the country that really is more warmer welcoming and politer than another? I don’t think so. I think there is a mixture of allsorts everywhere, and generally people are lovely.
