Pet shop owner’s tag removed after appeal
30/04/2010A great-gran electronically tagged after a goldfish was illegally sold to teenager from her shop had the device removed yesterday.
Judge Adrian Smith said a 10-week curfew on Joan Higgins, 66, was “inappropriate for a respectable lady” with no previous convictions. He gave her a conditional discharge. Mrs Higgins, licensee of Major Pets in Sale, Gtr Manchester, was prosecuted after her 44-year-old son sold the fish to a boy of 15 – the legal age is 16.
After the hearing Mrs Higgins said: “I’m delighted. I’ve had support from all over the world.”

I agree with Velvet…. madness! I remember when they used to give a goldfish as a prize on the fair… those were the days… 24 hours later it was floating

I have two goldfish from the fair they must be abt 5 or so now spent the first 3 years in a tank indoors but instead of growing to their tank size like they meant to the kept growing so they are outside in the pond withe the others the last couple of years and are 2 of the 3 biggest ones weve got :D

You must get a better quality of fish where you live… or am just rubbish at keeping them! haha
And a tag is going to stop her from selling yet another fish?
My grandad (God Bless his soul) did worse than that, theft, robbed a major company of thousands etc and got less hassle!
