30 September, 2005 at 12:27 pm #149098Hi Dawny
A dad meself to 4, so my heart goes out to you…Bast*rds eh? not the kids the druggies. Anyway my advice would be not to panic, get to the hospital or wherever your going and just deal with it as it happens, don’t worry about things that haven’t happened yet, sure she’ll be fine, just try and be strong and explain to them later what may have happened if the school hadn’t phoned you.
It’s a minefield eh…parenting good luck with it all, and I’ll be thinking of you and your kids.
Take care
30 September, 2005 at 12:30 pm #149099all u can do is tell them u are there for them
and try and find out why she took it
its very scary knowing that kids are being asked inside our outside school my son was offered drugs a few years but luckly enough he refused them and informed the school who phoned me
hope u manage to sort it out30 September, 2005 at 12:30 pm #149100the school had already had the doc to the school to check her out, she is ok thankfully, ive had to bring them both home
just dunno how to handle em, wot to say to them, without goin off my face at em
30 September, 2005 at 12:32 pm #149101I think this is one of most parents nightmares, Dawny.
I know it’s hard sometimes, but I think the trick is to try talking to them without going into shouting at them, explain, as you already have done, the possible consequences, chances are that she may not suffer any ill side effects, but, better to be informed of what could happen, than be left in blissful ignorance.
The police might possibly speak to them, as well as the school to make them more aware as well.
I’m not 100 % sure, but someone once mentioned to drink plenty of fluids to help flush the system out.
I can still remember the Leah Betts episode, she took an ectasy tablet, whilst out at a local nightclub and slipped into a coma, before dying. Sounds dramatic, but it did happen.
I’m not giving very good advice here, sorry, hope someone who knows a bit more will post and give you better advice hunny.30 September, 2005 at 12:33 pm #149102Oh Dawny – that is bloody terrible!! :(
The first thing is to find out what he was selling – if Kimberley hasnt taken it, then the police should be able to identify the substance pretty quickly.
I think the school should have more monitors to stop people hanging about the school, and kids should know about the dangers so they know what drugs can do and what they should do if approached.
I hope Lauren is okay, hun, let us know how she gets on.

I’m dreading when mine get to teenagers :(
30 September, 2005 at 12:53 pm #149105you have enough experience poshy
After the initial shock and you all calm down dawny you may want to take her to your local Community Drugs Team and get some good professional information for her. They also work with informing kids of the downfalls of drugs and the side effects that they can cause. I’m sure that she has scared herself anyway and so brow beating her wont solve anything at all, only to serve making her feel more stupid. Sometimes kids do things out of curiosity alone but hopefully she learned something from this.
30 September, 2005 at 1:12 pm #149106omg dawny what a awful situation to be in
i think everything i could say has been said on previous posts but i wish you luck
i know if it was me id be ranting and raving but i also know that would do no good.
i think they may have scared themselves enough to know not to do it again. what wth the police involved etc.
i think curiosity got the better of them and maybe a bit of peer pressure played apart.
i do wish you good luck -
