It is reported today that a large batch of heroin is circulating which has been contaminated with Anthrax.

So far it is said that a number of Scottish heroin users (and one German user) have died from injecting this contaminated heroin.

I’m really surprised that heroin users haven’t reported the matter to their local weights & measures officers or made a complaint to the Trading Standards people. I mean it isn’t on selling heroin infected with Anthrax. If a supermarket did this with food and people died – there would be a huge outcry in the Media.

What’s the betting that the use of heroin in Scotland drops sharply for a while???

    Scottish And German You Say?

Shhhhhh.. If we keep quiet, then maybe no-one will ever know!

Ok….. i don’t understand this. It kind of defeats its objective.

Most drug dealers want everyone to become addicted, more money in their pockets, and they can charge more for every packet (or whatever they come in). But, if they mix it with anthrax, then it will kill all the addicts!

Nope……it just doesn’t make any sense. Mind… most of what happens these days is senseless.

I thought the same minim – why kill off your customers AND (in marketing terms) undermine your product’s value and penetration into its marketplace.

Then I thought, hang on a minute – it’s just the Scots and Germans that are getting done with Anthrax riddled heroin. Maybe there is somebody out there who doesn’t just want to screw up heroin addicts ….. but has a particular down on the Jocks and the Germans.

Problem is that this still leaves millions of suspects !!!

Perhaps this is just another case making the Government reconsider the legalisation of heroin, at least the users would not be taking such a risk, knowing that the drug has been through a quality procedure and wasn’t cut with such dangerous substances. Drug use is now, unfortunately, a part of World culture and is not going to go away. The drug could be provided to addicts by the NHS on a prescription basis as methadone is now and the dealers would be cut out of the equation.

…….. or alternatively, infect all heroin with Anthrax and finish off the drug problem once and for all.

ok..can you make anthrax? or do you have to find a supply of it. I thought it was pretty dangerous stuff, so the people who are cutting it with heroin would be at risk.

My feeling is, it was a mistake. Someone had some and got it mixed up with heroin and sold the lot to someone else, who then mixed it all together and it just happens that scotland and germany got the first deliveries. I wonder if the first few to die were chemists!

If this did happen they are eligible for the Darwin Awards!

You could of course argue that all heroin addicts are candidates for the Darwin Awards.

I know that Anthrax is a disease that afflicts cattle & (I think) sheep and that when used as a bio-weapon it comes in powder form – maybe like the heroin/cocaine that it was mixed with.

I read today that there are several forms with varying degrees of toxicity. apparently the form or strain used in Jockland & Germany was relatively mild – but certainly strong enough to kill when injected into the bloodstream.

I wonder how many addicts will go ‘cold turkey’ rather than risk getting a ‘hot shot’???

You could send them to prison make them go cold turkey (which lets face it works) the they could sue the government and win :P

pml here pete, like there’s no heroin in prisons!!! Go in with smoking the odd spliff come out addicted to heroin. And……………..then the Gov puts you on a methadone programme to make sure you are well addicted prior to release to make sure that they keep below their targets of opiate related deaths in released offenders.
