20 January, 2010 at 1:48 pm #429082Velv we have been getting one here for the last 4 years!!! It’s taken about 3 and a half years for them to realise we are a business. Now the “threatening” letter has been sent to the manager of the shop instead of the occupant of the premises  . They spend so much on sending out letters then sending round the heavies…any wonder the licence fee is so high!. About 2 years ago a letter I got was that even if I say I have no TV, they would still have to send someone out to see me, so I thought sod it….come out and see me
Legally TV licencing have no right to enter and search your property (read it in a consumer magazine), but I will see on the day and see what kind of rotweiller they have sent out before I decide if he can look around the shop. If hes fierce then I will not let him look around but if hes a nice puppy I may, and then give him a lecture on all the money they have wasted over the last 4 YEARS!!!!20 January, 2010 at 9:47 pm #429083That’s surprised me, i thought they had a right to enter your home..
I remember once, they knocked, i was 17, and despite the fact that i claimed my mother weren’t in, he asked if he could enter. (The house, not me)..
I refused, he asked why not, and I told him, i didn’t trust him, and that he could do anything to me. He appeared to be lost for words!!I have heard too that when you purchase a new Television, your details are automatically sent to The Licensing department.. Not sure whether it’s true.
20 January, 2010 at 10:16 pm #429084They have as yet no right to enter your home, they must also get you to sign a statement they will prepare should they witness you watching a broadcast without a licence, the trick is to keep them at the door { if you answer the door that is  }…its very comical to me watching them walk away from my door, hopefully next time i will capture them on my camera next time…. a little free advertising i will give them….lol
20 January, 2010 at 10:18 pm #429085I’ll just leave a note on the door,.. DO NOT DISTURB, I’M WATCHING THE TELE
20 January, 2010 at 10:30 pm #429086Good lad…….
20 January, 2010 at 10:34 pm #429087If you’re watching telly you should pay for a license it’s that simple
