I have been smoking for 16 years and I have never thought about giving up until recently when my fiancee got pregnant. I couldn’t picture myself smoking around my child, it’s so selfish.
Off I popped to the doctors expecting her to make me go to see a counsellor or visit a group of smokers all wanting to quit.
I mentioned the new drug Champix and sure enough she made me her guinea pig and put me on the course. Happy Days!
During the first week of the course, you can smoke as long as you set yourself a quit date for the following week, which I did. Although I always thought to myself there is no way Im gonna stop for good on that date cos I couldnt imagine life without having a fag in me gob.
The quit date arrived and I managed to go through the day without having one, which to me is absolutely unbelievable! It is now 4 days since I had my last cigarette. Any one thinking of quitting or saving about £2.200 a year if you smoke 20 a day should give it a go. It’s GRRRReat! Happy Days! *Cough, splutter*

smoking is a filthy habit, i think most smokers would agree…i like the odd ciggy when im really drunk which isnt too often..however the other day i had a whole day of smoking….and then no more…guess im lucky i can do that..and if somone is thinking thats how we all start…ive been doing it like this for years and years and years

Smoking is an unhealthy expensive and smelly habit which i’d love to give up….. I have no willpower when it comes to smoking…. I often feel like a social leper when out but have tried on numerous occasions to stop… failing miserably every time as i now realise i like it too much.

However i am very careful about where i smoke and if people are around that are non smokers I’m always very respectful of their desire not to inhale my leftovers

My problem and im fully aware of the risks involved but if not smoking and not drinking enables me to live another 20 years and those years are spent doubly incontinent and gaga in a nursing home i think i’d rather go earlier to be honest

My dad died begging to stay alive, pleading for help at the tender age of 68 – 3 weeks after diagnosis of lung cancer. I would rather take my chances with sitting in my own pee and being oblivious to it thanks having seen that.
