There’s a fine line between banter and abuse. Often it isn’t what is said/typed but our perception of the words, our mental/emotional state at the time we hear/read it. On the interwebby thing it is even further complicated by the fact that it’s flat words on a screen with no tone of voice or facial expressions and body language to accompany it and give us a clue of the typist’s intent.
There is a forum member who has started to annoy me intensely, I no longer read his words as banter, my respectful request that he ignore me and I ignore him (with a bit of banter thrown in) has resulted in me being described as b!tchy. Anyone who knows me will know I’m one of the least b!tchy people to walk this earth. No doubt he doesn’t mean to annoy me, just as I don’t mean to be b!tchy….but such is banter and flat words on a screen.
Banter is only banter if both parties view it as such.
Okay Im going to play mediator here – will.. I think you contribute a lot to the JC boards and I do feel it would be a worse place for you not being here. Jen-Jen – I look forward to your jokes and equally you contribute a lot to the life of the boards. :D :D
Can you two not shake hands and call a truce….you both enjoy posting on here which is the point….. life is too short for petty disagreements when all the pair of you want to do is enjoy posting :? :?
Will, I have never commented on your spelling except once to say that the constant use of da instead of the was starting to get to me. Despite your spelling, which you say is down to dyslexia, I have actually persevered in reading and understanding your posts and not made any comment about the spelling.
I have never had a go at you, bullied you, or anything of the sort, yet you have implied I am a liar, when I have asked you to ignore me and I ignore you your response was to say was it my time of the month, then on a thread that I hadn’t even posted on, you said I was b!tchy.
I am an easy-going person, I get on with most people but I am realistic and adult enough to know that I can’t get on with everyone, and also wise enough to know when it’s time to stop even trying.
