The Liverpool John Moores University have just concluded an amazing piece of research into the play habits of 10 year old children. Their findings will shed new light on this subject and will be of tremendous interest to parents all over the country.

It took several months to complete and cost many many thousands of pounds of taxpayer’s money as well as research grants from charitable organisations. However, in spite of the huge cost and length of time taken, we now have a definitive answer…… and here it is:

Girls tend to play less energetically than boys because they are more interested in chatting and socialising in small groups. By contrast boys are more likely to play in larger groups and to take part in games like football.

As a parent of a girl in the target age group, I must say that this has come as a total shock to me. I mean, you see this every day in the school playground, but somehow it doesn’t impact on one’s conciousness….. or at least it didn’t until now.

This report’s authoritative findings clearly bring the entire thing into a new perspective and I know that I for one will view the children playing in the playground in an entirely different light from now on.

Well done to the academic researchers and what an excellent use of taxpayer’s money and resources.

How long did it take that gormless bunch of NHS spec wearing gonks to do that fascinating bit of “research” then? They,ve just taught me something I never knew in all my time as a parent.

Some years ago a 2 year study costing thousands of pounds was undertaken. It’s burning issue was “do deer suffer from stress when being chased by hounds”
For a mere £1000 i could have answered “of course they do you dozy tw*ts” in under 1 minute[/i]

I could have done that kind of research for less money, and in half the time! What did they do? Send questionnaires out to schools?

No this was all original research carried out by teams of researchers from Liverpool John Moores University – an institution well known locally for the vigour of its academic studies.

Apparently their next study will be into why girls tend to have an affinity with the colour Pink, whereas boys tend towards Blue.

The results of this detailed research will have far reaching effects, especially on the manufacturers and retailers of childrenswear.

Doubtless parents all over the country will be awaiting the report with bated breath, before going out to buy those all important children’s clothes.
