    Hi Everybody,

I joined up here several months back and haven’t participated much. I’m trying to get perspective on what people outside the USA think of our upcoming presidential election. It’s long been a theory of mine that the international community would be far more supportive of Barack Obama than John McCain.

Personally I’m not directly aligned with either of our two over-simplified parties; but this time around I don’t see how ANYONE could vote for John McCain.

If you have specific thoughts on this, or there are any questions or comments you want to make to an American (no holds barred) fire away.

Oh I don’t know MrBoston …. I kinda like John McCain. His choice of running mate was pretty adventurous and he is clearly more able to take risks than Barak Oklahoma. Anyway the guy is human – he even ‘gurns’ whern he trips up – Mr Smoothiechops is just a little bit too well presented for my taste.

We’ve had the likes of Tony Blair over here – who was all image and little if any substance. Looks like you guys across the pond might just be going the same way.

Seems to me that if you vote Oklahoma, you are going to get Socialist taxation (you know, tax the “rich” to give to the “poor”). It sounds good in principle but the only certainty is that more people pay more in tax. The so-called “poor” won’t be seeing much of it as they will have to ‘prove’ that they are poor, and that will be yet another bureaucratic hurdle to climb.

I absolutely adore his “pledge” to quit Iraq ASAP (and Afghanistan maybe). If ever I saw an impossible pledge – that one is it. Can you just imagine the sheer glee of Al Quaida if Oklahoma is elected??? They will have an absolute killing-fest as they shoot up everything American, in the sure knowledge that there will be no retaliation.

Maybe we can even have a re-run of the last helicopter evacuating the US Ambassador from the roof of the US embassy – but this time in Baghdad instead of Saigon.

Yup you guys are sure in for an interesting time if you all vote for Oklahoma for President.

I rather like Mr Obhama. He looks like a friendly chap. McCain looks to me like he could have been a bit of a rascist in his day. So on looks alone I go for Obhama.
