    Hi all,

Don’t know if you can help here but I’m having trouble with my left-click button. It has this very tiny smudgy mark where one of my fingers has been working overtime.

I’ve tried all kinds of furniture polish but it just won’t shift. Should I re-mortgage the house and go for the Mr Sheen Super Industrial ?

What if the Queen of England was suddenly to pop round and think me an untidy serf ?

    I’m at my wits end……….

Go into “Mouse Properties” via Control Panel then change the buttons as if for a left handed mouser (left button and right button reversed functions).

This will have the effect of evening out the wear on the buttons and means that you won’t need to bother with the Super-Industrial strength Mr Sheen.

What a novel approach to solving my problem. Now I can end up with two matching smudgy marks that will be the envy of all my friends and aquaintances.

you think you have a problem!

I’ve bought a supersonic state of the art question answering 8888888888 keyboard with built in spell checker and even a button for automatic witty retorts (never worked since the day I aquired it)
    but
    I’ve dropped it grrrr
    and the space barfell off
so I jammed it back on
    and now
every time I get to the end of a word I have to really bang it
and now my indesx finger is really quitetender atthe tip
and I think the spell checker is malfunctioning

    Will WD40 help??

    Frustrated from Aberdeen

    Will WD40 help

    Dear frustrated from Aberdeen,

Yes WD40 will help to resolve your issue. Unbeknown to you, WD40 is the room number at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where they affix plaster casts to broken fingers etc.

If you trot along there and speak with one of the nice caring nurseys, I’m sure they will fix you up with your very own tailor made plaster cast on your sore pinky. This will enable to to carry on abusing and bashing your keyboard without further injuring your poor finger.

    Yours very sincerely indeed,

    PB

    PS: Aren’t all Aberdonians frustrated???

    Dear Technical Help,

Would there happen to be software I can use to alert me of forthcoming power cuts ?

I’ve tried googling after the electricity goes but don’t seem to be getting anywhere.

    (thanking in advance etc etc)

    Dear Technically Baffled,

There is a simple solution to your issue which is a work around that Microsoft themselves have suggested. This involves the use of Microsoft Word and is effective with all versions of Word (2007 or ’97 – 2003) and constantly displays the power status of your computer.

    1. Open a blank Word document, ensuring that it is fully sized i.e. covers the entire screen.

    2. Using 72 point Bold type (Arial or Times New Roman will do as your typeface) type in the following (excluding the quotation marks):

    “MAINS POWER SUPPLY IS ACTIVE”

    3. Save the document to your C: drive and then leave it open and fully displayed on the screen. DO NOT minimise this document as you will no longer see the power status display if you do.

Whilst the mains power to your computer is OK you will see the above notice displayed.

Any time that mains power is either disconnected or fails, the power status warning display will vanish – thus alerting you to the problem.

We sincerely hope that this is of some small assistance to you.
