Sentencing him at Leeds Crown Court, judge Mrs Justice Cox, recounted how the defendant placed his daughter over his knee or other object and broke her back at their home while he was looking after her. He then sat with her body until the morning.
The judge said: “This was, in my view, a chilling and brutal attack.
“The bone was completely dislocated, resulting in spinal shock, rapid unconsciousness – mercifully – and to death.”
She went on: “The jury was satisfied, on the clearest of evidence, that it was you who deliberately inflicted truly horrific injuries upon your defenceless little daughter, Amy, from which she died within a few hours.”
The judge also detailed the other occasions in the weeks leading up to the murder in December last year when Howson “cruelly and deliberately assaulted Amy”, leaving her with multiple fractures to her arms and legs.
Howson showed no emotion as he was led from the dock.
The judge said to him: “I have not seen the slightest evidence of remorse from you for what you did.”
The jury had heard how Howson had been looking after Amy last Christmas while her Hunt, 26, who was 12 weeks pregnant at the time, was suffering morning sickness.
He claimed Hunt – who admitted allowing the death of a child and one offence of cruelty before Howson’s trial started – had killed her.
The court heard little Amy, who was malnourished and dehydrated, had also been slapped and punched in the months leading up to her death. When she died, she had 40 injuries, including seven bone fractures from a series of assaults.
Howson had admitted a charge of child cruelty by not seeking medical attention but denied murder. The jury of six men and six women took just three-and-a-half hours to convict him earlier this week.
He was also found guilty by the jury of child cruelty by assaulting Amy.
That poor little child. :(
I read that too Mary. I couldn,t post the things I wish on that evil b*****d. He,ll get hell in prison from the other inmates, and he,ll probably have to be segregated for his own saftey. I hope he rots in hell. :evil: :evil: :evil:

Yes it is hard to believe and yes they undoubtedly ARE seriously evil …. but the appalling thing is that they aren’t alone in doing this sort of thing to children.
How many times over the years have right minded JC members posted stories of child abuse going on? Too many happeniungs – that’s what.
OK the male had an extremely low IQ; OK the female appears to have acquiesced in the attacks on her child (which fact alone is horrifying). What can be done about it in reality???
Sadly, nothing. Look around you in the town / village where you each live. I’ll bet you that somewhere in your locality there is a child being let’s just say ill treated by its parents.
No we don’t have to accept it or agree with it, but yes we have to accept that this abuse happens and will go on happening. Until we have a sort of police state where people are only allowed to breed when the State says they can and even then under controlled conditions …. child abuse will continue.
There are times (and this is one of them) when I frankly despair for the collapse in moral standards in what we laughingly call “society” these days.
