ok you lot after a sorta discussion with someone over the weekend i have decided to start a Hank Williams thread. like it or loath it Country and western music played a part in the music scene just as any other, usually country and western music told a story, not always happy , more likely to be about breaking hearts or failed romances…..thing is too that the style of singing lent itself to the stories told.
Hank Williams was born on September 17th 1923, he died on January 1st 1953 just 29 years old.
Hank was an icon of country music and one of the most influential musicians and songwriters of the 20th century. He was a leading pioneer of the honky tonk style and he had numerours hit records.
His songbook is one of the backbones of country music, and several of his songs are pop standards as well. He has been covered in a range of pop, gospel, blues and rock styles. His death at the age of twenty-nine helped fuel his legend.
