Brainwashing

I know that brainwashing has been around for centuries but the current/recent examples of americans who still think the 2020 election was stolen and the russians who support pOOtin and don’t believe their soldiers are killing civilians and children: both those groups of people seemed to have a curious similarity.

Despite all the evidence to the contrary, they continue to follow their beliefs. Admittedly, the  american audience have a much better access to a balance of media than the russian population do but it still shows how powerful a media message can be if you are shut off from or you choose to shut off all other sources, presumably because they have again been brainwashed about ‘fake’ news. The actual facts are irrelevant to them. Their beliefs – created by their choice of information – are all powerful.

It’s a travesty of the 21st century that people can still be manipulated this way. I hope that over time, these people will learn and accept the truth and I think that will be a very painful exercise for many.
