Have you ever spoken to someone with a massive spot. scar or birthmark on their face and tried not to look as if your eyes are drawn to it?

I was attacked by a metal bread bin last week and consequently have had to work with a giant scab on the bridge of my nose.

I can see it in peoples eyes
They are trying so hard not to look as if theyve noticed but I know they are wondering

I cant forget its there because I can even see it if I squint in a certain way

One or two have commented but mainly nothing has been said

Well the final bit dropped off and this morning my nose is scab free (although there is a pink shiny bit)

I bet loads of my customers comment on how well I look this morning :?

you make a very valid point bon bon, but I think some of it is to do with upbringing too, how many times have we seen someone who has an affliction? be it downs sydrome, birthmarks , facial and body disfigurations of varying degrees? we all try not to stare but I guess human nature is that we do glance and try not to let the other person notice, me? i just wudda said how did u do it lol cos im nosy like that …..

    Was it an unprovoked attack?

this reminds me of the night my daughter gave birth to her youngest at home.
my eldest grandaughter age 8 woke up and was allowed to stay. the midwife had a bright purple birthmark running down one side of her face. elle was facinated and i was dreading a remark but she said nothing as seeing her new baby sister arrive was more interesting.
nxt morning the midwife called back. my daughter was upstairs and elle yelled
    mummy theres a lady here.
my girl shouted /*who is it?*
    elle bawled back
the one with the purple face who brought our new baby last night.
luckily the midwife was in stitches laughing and explained to elle why she had a *purple* face.

I had severe Hay Fever once and got an infection in my left eye. It swelled up to the point where my cheek was nearly hanging off my cheek. Not wanting to let a friend down I went to a surprise 40th party with her and half way through the meal she turned to me and said “God I think your brave coming out like that”!

She’s not my friend anymore! lol

some time ago, I was lying in bed. My cat did her usual attention seeking thing of walking across the headboard above me. For a cat, she hasnt got the best balancing abilities…anyway..she slipped and fell flat on my face! I put my hand up to my face as my nose hurt a bit from the impact….when i moved my hand i saw it was covered in blood ffs!! i looked in the mirror and once i had wiped the blood away i saw quite a deep scratch mark on my nose where her claw must’ve caught me. The next few weeks i had to walk around with a scab on my nose and it took ages to heal!! people talked to the scab instead of me, i could see them trying not to look! I tried to cover it with concealer, but think i only made it worse, you know! eventually it healed but theres still a small indentation where it was.
