I read this in the paper earlier:

    http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/comment/your-letters/2008/08/05/letter-your-view-motor-madness-86908-20684450/

And it got me thinking about folk who seem determined to blame others for their mistake. Especially this one, he or she accepts that they were in the wrong but still seems to be looking for a scapegoat.

It’s the line ‘But what if I had killed a child crossing the road while the police, knowing I was speeding, waited for me to go faster?’ That I just can’t believe. Yes, the police could have acted differently but they’re not the only ones who could’ve used some common sense from the sounds of it. So are we a nation who thinks we are above the law?

    Cas

I am ashamed at travelling at such speed, but I could have been pulled in sooner.

    Lol, what a line………

Agree tho Johnboy,,,,,,too many people prepared to blame others and not take responsibility for themselves.

Reminds me of the incident couple weeks ago,,,,with the schoolgirl who threw something at the police, and a whole incident arising out of it. Her mother, when collecting her daughter from the police station, complained that this had disrupted the start of her school holidays  Maybe if the mother had taught her little brat some manners and respect, none of it would have happened in the first place   Easier to blame someone else tho eh

It’s little surprise that whoever wrote the letter didn’t actually give their name, and I suspect that the account they gave probably isn’t the whole story either.

That example you just gave sounds all too familiar, the worse one I personally heard was a guy reporting his son missing. Except he wasn’t. He knew where he was, his son was just refusing to go with him (probably cos he was with his mates more than anything and he’s at an age where it wouldn’t have made him look good) and demanded that the police take action. Fair enough, if it was silly o’clock but it was early evening and still daylight!

I just wish someone had asked him to suggest how to approach the situation
