If you haven't read the Just Chat site rules for a while, now would be a good time for a refresher since they have just been updated.
From 7 July 2017, we do not allow the sharing of personal information about other users, or pictures of other users (or members of their family) without their permission.
Although sharing personal information and photos without permission was generally not permitted (this often fell under the rule that we do not allow the harassment or taunting of other users), in light of recent activity in the chat forums and message boards we felt it was important to make this rule more explicit.
Users who share personal information about other users (including, but not limited to, phone numbers and addresses) or photos of other users or their family members without permission risk an immediate and permanent ban from Just Chat.
As a reminder, all registered members agreed to abide by the site rules when they registered. All guest users agree to abide by the site rules when they access any chat forum.
We try to keep our site rules clear and concise. In fact, this is the first expansion of our site rules for a number of years. We trust that all users of Just Chat will respect the rules we've put in place to protect all users and maintain a positive environment at Just Chat.
Agree 100% Arc. People need to take responsibility for their own actions and safety online. You wouldnt walk up to a stranger in the street and tell them your real name, address, where you work, kids go to school etc, so why do it in a chat room?
People reveal far too much personal information about themselves in chat rooms. It always comes back to bite you.
Just a few thoughts from personal experience.
i am always told when i report the abuse i get to some guides that they have to actually be in the room to witness it to be able to do anything about it, but anyone in the new room can scroll back hours and hours, and see it written and by who. but apparently nothing can be done? is this true?
i am repeatedly getting nasty comments which stop as soon as a guide appears, the day after said incident that caused your clarification post, my ex husbands name was put into the room and i was asked who he was by the guest who typed it. ive never given out that information and so i cannot take responsibility for it, but LE was in invisible mode and was already in the process of banning said guest thankfully. another point id like to make is – i have so many guests being abusive i obviously adhere to the rules and use ignore, the problem with this is they then change to a different number to carry on, i ignore again and again. until they get fed up and leave me alone, the problem with this is as you know numbers for guests are randomly generated and some people i do chat to use guest numbers but because ignore now stays on, ive found some i chat to are on ignore, (hope that makes sense) so i am inadvertently ignoring people i have usually chatted to.
last point …. sorry lol
people using invisible mode? not just guides but regs too, and you cannot ignore them so you have to put up with their abuse and vitriol in the room which isnt nice. can anything be done about the technical points i have raised?
About time too !!
There is absolutely NO need for it.
Perhaps after recent event chatters will take responsibility for their own actions & NOT share their personal info & family pictures on here.
However ….. If you can PERMANENTLY remove/ban these people WHY then can’t persistent abusive chatters .spammers /scroller’s etc be dealt with in the same way?
