I was wondering if a, EEG mind reader could be used to calm criminals down- whether it’s a hostage crisis or a standoff? Like if the cause of the anger was found out and the person actively committing the crime was reassured without making the crime causer suspicious of their thoughts being read? I would assume the criminal knowing that their thoughts are being read would make the situation worse. It probably might be possible to remotely send thoughts to people too, kind of like the LIDA machine, which could also be used to calm criminals down and send reassuring emotions through brain waves. It could also help with peace. Thoughts?

I don’t think this is a technology that exists.
I was just thinking about how the FBI was wondering about solving the Waco crisis using mind reading technologies, and so for some reason I still remembered it so I was looking into some ideas. It would be nice to work from the good side on these technologies to catch and jail criminals.
