No thankyou!
11 January, 2017 at 10:42 pm #1019570Don’t see the attraction to spiders as pets, but each to their own.
I came across a little boy some time ago (he was 6 yrs old, his parents are South American but he was born here), I remember him telling me he loved spiders.
I’m wondering if it’s a trend or something a bit deeper?

And here’s someone who allowed a manky pigeon to share her bedroom. Don’t read too much into it Blossom , we are looking after it for a local school. Small children are happy to handle creepy-crawlies in the garden and find them fascinating, but become scared of them as they get older. If children are picking up their parents fear of insects, then it will take at least a generation to change attitudes. I am doing a small part in helping them.

12 January, 2017 at 2:08 am #1019588I think I prefer spiders to snakes though.
12 January, 2017 at 2:41 am #1019590We have friends on the East Coast that have about four or five snakes. I am not a fan, but my daughter was fascinated by them when we visited. She wanted to look at them all day long (she was about 18 months old at the time). I suspect discomfort around snakes is something we learn, not something that comes naturally.
12 January, 2017 at 10:26 am #1019602Awwwwww Sophia she is a Beautiful creature. brought back memories of Doris when we spoke in F3. sadly my ex didn’t like spiders, and made me get rid, but my kids still have no fear.
My niece had an Albino python, her kids loved it and have grown up with no fear of snakes. (used to scare the crap out of my ex ) having a little giggle here.
as a kid I would take home allsorts, a frog, an injured pigeon, a spider with a leg missing. was never allowed to keep them indoors though sadly
