So I went into the kitchen last night to make a cup of coffee, turned on the light and noticed out of the corner of my eye a brief flicker of movement.

Something definitely moved and appeared to go towards and underneath the fridge. But when I lookd properly, there was nothing there.

A few minutes later, the kettle had boiled and I returned to the kitchen and there …… sitting in the middle of the floor …. was a mouse !!!

Now I can’t tell my wife or daughter, because being typically female, they’d simply start screaming and getting hysterical. Last time we had a mouse, in the sitting room, (it ran in from the garden) they jumped onto chairs and started screaming and refused to get down until it ran out again.

So now the bloody mouse is hiding behind the fridge or wherever and I have an hysteria time-bomb on my hands. If the womenfolk see it, all hell will break loose.

Anybody got any advice for me ….. particularly how to get rid of said mouse?????

Get a cat! Mine caught a poor frog last night, but we managed to save it from his fate.

Honestly mine catch tons of mice, never have any problems. And… they dont shit in their own gardens!

As we speek I have just let my neighbours long haired black cat in as the wicked owner has left him out in all the rain, so he is now snuggled up in the sunspace with my two.

Dog’s not to happy though.

We are surrounded by fields where we live and get loads when they are harvesting, just stick some traps down with peanut butter (ours like it) put them down before you go to bed then make sure your first up in the morning to get rid of the wee blighter

but seriously chocolate will bring it out u may even be able to lie in wait if u leave a piece out they really find it hard to resist.

Well at least nobody (so far anyway) has suggested giving it both barrels with a 12-bore shotgun.

Cats are absolutely out! I loathe and detest bloody cats. I’d rather have the womenfolk screaming hysterically and jumping on chairs every time they thought that they saw something move, than have a nasty horrid creepy cat in the house.

What about poisoning it??? Would that work and if so …. how???

    #332615

yes it can work but mice like rats are sometimes clever with poison if it s not a smell or taste they associate they sometimes walk right on by it, or wait until one of the others try it and see if it kills them first thats why poisoning sometimes fails also with poison they end up under something u cant find, dead and stinking for weeks after, traps ur best bet and they are only a couple of quid for a small snappy trap. you can get them from hardware stores pest control places or farm stores usually.
though there is loads of expensive other options humane traps again peanut butter or choclate as bait and electronic devices and so on.

Get rat poison, they’ll take it back to the nest and then they’ll all feed on it. 8)

I had an infestation at my old house, the poison got rid of them within the week.

Cats are the best option though, I don’t even get spiders in my house. 8)

They don’t eat the poison they got that one sussed. Only option is a mouse trap for B & Q about £4. Has to be the one that snaps the neck. Put peanut butter on the trap plate dont bother putting lose food on it becuase they just flick it off and eat it. Use oeanut butter because it will stick to the plate and they will lick it and set the trap off.
Once dead cut the head off and stick it on a lollystick in the ground as a warning to other rodents

    You’re absolutely right.

That will take care of the women then, what about the mouse ?
