There is a section on the SFA website called Whistleblowers, where referees make comments on aspects and decisions of certain games. Personally, I don’t see any benefits to it and I never have. For example, Ian Brines has admitted that he should have allowed Aberdeen an equalizer at the weekend.

I admire his honesty but so feckin what? Aberdeen were still denied a point, Celtic got a three point advantage in the title race which the ref now admits they shouldn’t have and we’re all supposed to say ‘Fair play to the man, at least he’s honest’

Is there really any need for it?

No need atall. It just serves to remind us that stupid decisions cannot be rectified atall.

Id love to see the baastard in the black from Balls of Steel ref a prem match

Exactly, it’s scant consolation for all concerned. And as I pointed out, those three points could have a huge say in where the title ends up, admitting the mistake won’t make up for anything.

If anything, it just makes things harder to take. If your team loses to the better side, then fair enough. If your team loses cos the ref has made a bad call, it’s harder to take. And then for the ref to admit that, with the benefit of hindsight, he made the wrong call that makes things worse. I’d rather not know!

Don’t know whose stupid idea it was in the first place

I dont mind when refs come out in a book or something and reveal a bit about themselves…. that reminds us they are human… but a forum ffs!!!!!!!

    It’s just wrong!

Ya, there’s no point in this kind of honesty.

Ian Brines is a top bloke though. :D
