A spectacular King John re-enactment takes place at Newark Castle on Tuesday evening (18 Oct): When King John died here on this date in 1216 there was a terrible storm. It was said it was hell opening up to take John to his fate. This re-enactment will recreate the storm as it was the night King John died. Watch as the monarch’s body is taken from the Castle and handed over to representatives from Worcester Cathedral, where his body now rests, as the storm rages above. Regia Anglorum will bring the night of the King’s death to life so we can experience what that night was like 800 years ago. http://www.newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk/newarkcastle/
